The gentle, beautiful Mud Snake was an immediate hit with the younger herpers. |

About half way between us a snake was crossing the road. We each spotted the snake at the same time and accelerated to be the first one to get to it. The snake saw danger from both sides, performed a leaping U-turn, and darted into the cover. Upon reflection, my best guess is that it was a large Eastern Kingsnake. |
