RECENT OBSERVATIONS

November 2012

Gene's Notes:

November weather was seasonably warm and very dry. However, we did get our first frost on the 1st.

I spent much of my photography time looking for new Laurens County birds to add to my collection. I was rewarded with Bonaparte's Gulls and a stray Dunlin.

At my farm, we were visited by several large flocks of Common Grackles.

Bonaparte's Gull (Larus philadelphia).

Dunlin (Calidris alpine).

Common Grackle (Quiscalus quiscula).

Turkey Vulture (Cathartes aura), basking in morning sun.

Canada Geese (Branta canadensis).

Song Sparrow (Melospiza melodia).

Red-bellied Woodpecker (Melanerpes carolinus).
